This summer has been packed with all sorts so far. It’s the first one in a while where I’ve found myself busy nearly every evening with most often those nights being filled with some sort of eatery or pleasant conversations with friends. With all the hustle and bustle however, I’m having to fit things in wherever I can. A few of todays simple discoveries, are those things that have made life a little bit easier throughout the in between moments of the day when going from one social event to the next.
Wm. J. Mills & Co
Mills & Co is the oldest sailmaker in America since 1880 in Greenport, NY and is still owned and operated by the original family. You may be asking how a sail making company has helped me throughout my days lately and it’s all been due to a hat that I recently bought from them. It’s not a special hat or anything, but it has certainly helped me from day to day when my hair is in a mess, to throw on and still look good with any outfit I have to wear. I love a classic baseball cap, but sometimes wearing a sports team just doesn’t fit the aesthetic. It’s been one of those pieces recently that has become my whole personality. I wanted to mention this brand simply because they do make some incredible canvas travel bags as well. So if you’re not in the market for a sail, they still make a great daily carry made from proper fabrics, for anyone who commutes or does small travel on a regular basis.

Taste: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci
The only books I ever find myself reading are usually about theology, memoirs, historical or food related. I’ve never been much of one for fiction to be honest. I save all my fiction for films. As I’ve been driving from place to place, I’ve been a bit tired of music, so I picked up an audio book. I recently began listening to Taste: My Life Through Food. As I write this, I haven’t quite finished it yet, but it has been a pleasant listen so far. Having a memoir about food and the way it shaped the life of an actor or any individual for that manner, is always interesting to me. The nice part about it, is that it also has recipes throughout, for anyone who wants to make something at home that Mr. Tucci grew up with. I would certainly recommend a listen if that’s your sort of taste as well.
Casio MQ24-7B2
I’ve always been taught that being punctual is proper. Far too many of my colleagues show up late to events, outings, reservations, or otherwise. In order to keep in time with everything that has been going on lately, I thankfully always have my watch on hand or if I should say, on wrist. Most often I wear a Casio MQ24-7B2. It’s by no means anything fancy, but it’s my every day carry, work watch, and truth be told, I get more compliments on it than any of my more expensive watches, which sometimes can feel a bit tragic. I’ve broken this watch twice now and am currently on my third. Thankfully with little effort, it’s easy to replace and goes with about any outfit or project I may be working on. I can take it fishing, working out, playing with the dogs, planting, etc... It’s a simple watch for just about anything.
