Hey y’all. I’m writing this letter now, the day before I had originally planned to release a new episode of I Know A Place, but unfortunately the release of that episode is going to be pushed back a little bit.
I began this whole writing thing this year, purely out of enjoyment. I thought this would be no more than a place for me to yap, yearn, introduce others to some of the stuff that interests me, and a place to post my thoughts when my roommate wasn’t around to annoy (sorry Stewart). As things have progressed, I’ve found that I really do enjoy doing this work more than I could have hoped for. One thing I’ve learned about the creative process so far, is that I can’t wait until everything is perfect before I start trying, and that I need to accept that there will be some ugly pieces along the way. The important thing for me to do, is to see what works, see what doesn’t, and make adjustments along the way.
As I’m continuing to grow in this process, I just wanted to say first and foremost, thank you to you, the reader. As of this moment, I’ve officially made it to 100 subscribers of this newsletter. It may not seem like much to some, but to me, it means a lot. Starting the series, “I Know A Place” has already been exceptionally fun and unexpectedly far more surprising to work on than I could have imagined.
That being said, you will certainly notice a few changes coming as far as this series, or other new series episodes go. The frequency of posts will shift, along with the length as well. I’ve had the pleasure to sit down with a few wonderful professionals in this field of work, and they have been giving me feedback that I’m learning to grow from. In the meantime, I wanted to also ask you, the reader, for your feedback.
What have you enjoyed most so far?
What more would you hope to see?
What’s been your biggest critique?
As my readers, I want to involve you in this process with me. It’s something I’m doing that’s messy, sometimes weird, and a bit unorthodox. So if you would please, comment below some of your thoughts so far on this newsletter, or if you know me personally, send me a text, give me a call, and let me know what you would like to see. I have no formal training, and know nothing of writing professionally, but the one thing I do know, is this: “I have no idea what I’m doing. I just know that I need to do it.”
