As I’ve started this whole newsletter thing, I certainly didn’t expect to actually be able to write something every single week. I thought “surely by now I would have missed one day!” but thankfully up to this point, things have gone surprisingly well. I will say however, I did learn a lesson this week, and that was that I needed to better plan each episode of I Know A Place.
Today was supposed to be an episode featuring Ryan Turner of MTH Pizza, however my originally scheduled interview had to be pushed back. I did think to myself that I might simply try and write and design the entire piece within the two days that I had to spare, but after some time, I realized that I really didn’t want to force this thing. I love doing this series for y’all and enjoy meeting a ton of really cool folks along the way. It’s been a great blessing to have the opportunity to sit down with so many incredibly talented craftsmen, and speak with them on the ins and outs of their work. Because it has been such a blessing, I really wanted to make sure that I took my time with this, rather than rush it in order to meet a deadline that I had originally set for myself.
So moving forward, the main lesson that I’ve learned is that I need to pre-produce each episode of each season before I begin releasing any of it. I want to make sure that every part and piece feels right and holds quality and is authentic to the individuals that I highlight. Some of the pieces I’ve done so far have felt a bit rushed, and one thing I’ve learned now, is that quality takes time.
That being said, be on the lookout for the final two episodes of season 1 of “I Know A Place” releasing soon(ish). Also, I’ll be doing a giveaway over on my instagram Ian_Spoon for the final episode, so be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, if you haven’t already taken the time to read each episode of “I Know A Place” be sure to do so and get caught up!
Episode 1: Lyla Lila
Episode 2: Bellwood
Episode 3: Dirt Church Ceramics
Episode 4: Brick+Mortar

As a side note, I spent this weekend putting together my house for an upcoming dinner party and game-day. That being said, I found a stellar piece on marketplace. A Hale barrister bookcase for just $125. I’m pretty proud of this find. Definitely needs a little bit of love, but I’m happy to see where it can go. (forgive the low quality photo, but my lighting in my home is also still a work in progress, especially at night)
The idea is to eventually give it this sort of vibe, but in the meantime, I’m going to be filling it with a few different things so that it doesn’t just sit empty.
